About adventurers and explorers

By: Chris Goulet

We have an insatiable thirst to experience the world firsthand.

We derive intense satisfaction in challenging difficult,

insecure and uncomfortable environments.

We take the time to observe and absorb, because we are not racing.

We are not competing with anyone but ourselves.

Our encounters with vastly different environments, lifestyles,

and beliefs profoundly expand our interest and awareness of the world.

Witnessing meager standards of living forever changes our perception

of the western preoccupation with striving for material wealth.

When we return home, we feel delighted at regaining the little

pleasures that have been denied to us in faraway lands.

We have frequent flashbacks of our expeditions and take

pleasure in telling others our experiences.

We become tolerant of petty annoyances or discomforts

and become patient in our projects.

But the ceasing of discovery and strong sensations precipitate

in us a long emotional slump.

Sensations we once held to be exciting become less so.

Is it worth it? Like they say, "It's better to have loved (traveled)

and lost (come home) than never to have loved at all."

Once we have eaten from the tree of knowledge,

we cannot go back to ignorance.

While on expeditions, our attention is intensely focused

and nothing else matters, but back home it is difficult to

concentrate on what we are doing.

Our successes strongly reinforce our self-esteem.

We can do anything, but we find we don't really want to do anything but explore.

We dream of more adventures, and when preoccupation turns to obsession,

we are bound to realize them.

We are fascinated with the stories of other explorers and

we plan our expeditions to avoid their misfortunes.

Are we escaping from something or have we been unfortunate with normal life?

The true weight of these factors lies hidden from us.

What do we search for? We don't really know, until we find it.

Ultimately, we explore to find ourselves.

Our passion for adventure continues...

Got this from a friend. For inspiration daw. Na-inspire ka ba? Ako, Oo. Ewan ko sa'yo. Which reminds me, I wanna do some drawing and writing. After all, tomorrow's a holiday. Oooeey, some well-deserved sleep. Nakakapagod mag-isip. My website is a due a week from now and all I have finished are the databases. Real work starts the day after tomorrow. This time I will really work. I've been distracted with thoughts of vacation, Kiko, and Kiko, and some more Kiko lately. Gotta work, kailangang maka-graduate. And then, pera, pera, pera. More pera, more fun. More moolah, more adventures. Siyeeeht. Imagine, ang saya. Hahahaha.

 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For some reasons, kinikilig ako.
I love you, Kiko!
Aaaaaaaaiiiyyeeeeeeeeeeehhh.

 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Excited na ako. Kamown. Let's hit the beach. Woooh. And we'll be hitting the beach twice.  HF Midyear Workshop. Oye. Sun, sea and sand sa maaraw na tag-ulan. Global warming. Hahahaha. Naalala ko tuloy yung kanta ni Noel Cabangon about global warming. Anyway, masakit na ang mata ko. Bukas na lang ulit.

Time to beach, beybeh!

Rising from the Ashes

How would you feel if I was to say ‘Oh look, you are about to experience a transformation in our life’? Would you be as spooked as if you simply saw the Death card as your outcome card?

The Death Card has to be the one card in the Tarot deck that most, if not all, people fear seeing in a reading, and yet it isn’t as dark and macabre as one might think, which is why some Tarot readers have renamed this card ‘Transformation’.

I am in the process of creating the Lotus Tarot deck and I will be naming this card ‘Transformation’ because I believe it portrays the true meaning of this card far better and without evoking the chills that the title ‘Death’ card does.

When the ‘Death’ card appears in a reading, the most common thought is that it is predicting a physical death, that someone is going to die. This, in most, if not all, cases is highly unlikely.

I cannot speak for all Tarot readers, but I personally do not use this card to represent a physical death. For me, the Death card represents an event or series of events or circumstances that may cause great disruption and possible upset, but which make transformation in its many forms inevitable.

I am not a medium or clairvoyant, but I do use the Tarot cards to help give men and women around the world some insights into their own situations and to look at their lives from a different perspective. Let me give you some examples: one of the greatest blows any of us can receive, man or woman, is when we fall utterly in love with someone only to be rejected and left alone. Many of you may have had such an experience and it can feel like your world has fallen apart.

Such incidences can create transformational change within us, changing our outlook and our approach to love and relationships. For example, if someone, who didn’t love you, lets you go, it can open up a whole new set of circumstances and opportunities for you.

There have been numerous case histories of people who have been bankrupt and who have lost everything only to change course and tactics and go on to achieve great success.

For me, the end of something, whether it be a relationship, job, career or lifestyle is only the sign that it is time for something new to be created.  If I am no longer in that relationship, I am free to pursue new love. If I have lost my job, I am free to look for a better one and so on.

The tale of the Phoenix sums up the meaning of the Death card quite well, where a bird dies in the flames only to emerge and fly out of the fire transformed into something far greater.

So don’t fear the Death card when it appears. Take it as a sign that something in your life may come to an end. The transition may be challenging but as the end comes to pass a new beginning will present itself.

Love and Joy,

Alison Day

Ray of Hope

Kahit uno lang, please.

I can see the light. Just a little further. Need to follow the light–

Excitement   ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Despite all the hurly-burly this sem's Final term is bringing about, I can already smell the sea; Ever more excited to see the sunset than see my grade. Take a dip and dive. Sea breeze on my face, salt on my hair. Uuugh. Kinikilig ako, thinking of it. Imagine romance with the god of the sea. Wanna know how excited?

I'm smiling a ngiting palaboy.

Thanks to a good friend, whose name will not be disclosed for reasons I, myself, do not know, for helping me out, even a little ['wag kang feeling, konti lang naitulong mo. sapakin kita?!], with my current everest and now, I'm almost a halfway through. Last time we we're asked to make a  school portal. I did mine but most part didn't work but my professor was considerate enough to give me the least grade a not-doing-so-well student like me can get. This time, we have to make an E-Commerce website, and just like before I have no groupmates and have to do it by myself. Poor me. Anyway, I've been stressing over it for months, actually, ever since the classes started, and now, naaaah, I'm still stressed. Good thing, Madame President declared October 1 a holiday. Oooh. Sleeeep! Gahaaa~ Where are me friends? T__T

Chef Rob now on tv. Now, that is love.

Some and a lot more love, this time, for Eugene. Thank you for Kiko's Friendster profile.

Escape is always my escape but too bad, I didn't get the escape I wanted to have done for today. See, I was waitlisted for a sponsored trip at the Coastal Lagoon in Paranaque. care of WBCP. I didn't make it because they're fully booked and nobody backed out. But it was actually a good thing that I had time to somehow do what is actually due a week from now though I am nowhere near done. Now I am hungry. XD

I don't really like roasting my skin under the sun but thinking of the beach is making my stomach tremble. I'm in love. I'm not a good swimmer but I can't resist the water. Levy-chan is an Aquarian by heart. And if I get to dig the snorkels that my Oma sent some years ago from our stock room, I might try snorkelling. Now, who would be kind enough to lend me a lifevest or any kind of floater? Heehee. Please?

Happy 11th Year Anniversary DLSU-DMS. I look forward to climbing more mountains with you. I love you all. *bunch of kisses and big hug*

Okay, somebody replied in one of my "Kiko Love" posts. Crush nya din daw si Kiko. Ohkaaay?! Hehehehe. Weird. Peace. Hi, ate! Welcome to the club.

I love Orbit. Finally found a way to grab media over the net. Now I have some of those rare music and videos that I like. Now that I have you, I'ma grab some more. Hehehehe.

Is this really the life? Even Friendster Horoscope says so.

>>Try to become more socially active, right now. Getting involved in making the changes you want to see in the world is a wonderful way to get a deeper understanding of what motivates other people -- and ultimately, what motivates you. You need to focus more on the process of living in order to get more out of your own life. Stop getting distracted by disposable-culture trends. High-minded ideas will be preoccupying you for a while now, so you have to pay more attention to them.<<

Nahw soh mats por daht. Gutom na ko.

BEEEEEEEAAACCCCCHHH.

...

And today's Friendster Horoscope says...

*drumrolls*

Try to become more socially active, right now. Getting involved in making the changes you want to see in the world is a wonderful way to get a deeper understanding of what motivates other people -- and ultimately, what motivates you. You need to focus more on the process of living in order to get more out of your own life. Stop getting distracted by disposable-culture trends. High-minded ideas will be preoccupying you for a while now, so you have to pay more attention to them.

I should be on my way to the Coastal Lagoon right now but nobody backed out so I'm here. Stuck. See, I was wait list-ed for the sponsored trip that is scheduled for today and, yeah, it's my fault. I didn't register right away. Now, I have to wait for the next trip. That is when? I don't know or I could take 10 of my friends and book a trip with WBCP. I will do that but not today.  My schedule is still full and busy with school shit. Now sing with me, I don't wanna wait in vain-- Nothing is in vain actually, I see a cool future for me. I can see a big, bad beach bummin' parteeeey! Can't wait for the DMS anniversary.

Hehe

Mourning for a mission failed

I'm beaten down again, I belong to them
I beaten down again, I failed you
                                  --Truth, Seether

Last night's dilemma--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Life and death of some sort but not exactly; That confusing feeling of having two ropes tugging your neck from different directions and having to choose which rope to cut, and which direction you want to be dragged in. Making choices between fighting for a cause you believe in or a fight against what you fear.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Today: no matter how much I thought of everything last night, it all came down to one thing. Nothing. I failed myself and everyone else. May pa-advo-'advocacy' pa akong nalalaman. Fotcha. I feel really bad. Now, more than ever, I'm a loser. Weakling. Antok lang ang katapat. Sorry nang marami.

Keep faith or give in to doubts? Levy-chan needs some counsel. 'Elp. Nyaw.

.....

This is life and death of some sort but not exactly.

Imagine your head being tugged with two ropes from different directions and choice have to be made between which rope to cut, and which direction you want to be dragged in. See, it's about choosing between fighting for a cause you believe in or missing a class you fear on failing. It's not that I actually fear the failing, but this is my last shot at graduating or I'd have to pay for my own tuition. You know my graduation is already three semesters, that's a year and a half, overdue and I've been a freeloader too long [I'm getting tired of it]. And it's fact that programming is not my line, and in a major subject that tackles programming, every meeting is of the essence if you want to pass. For some of my 'more complex' subjects through my years in college, completing the attendance has always gave me that good hope for that magical decimal, 1.00. I still hope to make the cut as Octoberian but doubt is still running through my head.

Tryin'a-keep-n-min'

...what the heavens are trying to say; I trying to listen but I hear this noise, voices from the back of my head, keeping me from doing what has to be done, keeping me from doing it well. What a buggy day.

Ayumsatsélowser.

Gusto kong matulog, matulog nang matulog.

I'm sick.

Sick of this life. I'm not yet dying but this life is killing me. Sana pwedeng i-freeze frame ang buhay, or mag-skip scene or mas maganda, delete.

Not that nothing good is happening but it's just that somebody needs a break. Too many things happening at the same time, too many things that had to be done. I almost had it the other day. Almost went to a day out.

I rode a bus bound for Tagaytay since I'm already late for school but while sitting there idle, waiting for the conductor to collect my fare, I thought why not go to Tagaytay instead. I could and almost did it but something hit me. I have nowhere to go to in Tagaytay and I only have my allowance for the day. Where can it possibly get me?

Only thing I can do: huminga nang malalim.

Had me wishing, sana life can be lent or given to the more needy. Who wants my life? I'd give it for free. Mas maraming dying people who wants to live longer. but got only a few months or days to live.

I'm not sure if I mean what I'm saying. Judgement day. Hindi ko na mahintay.

Bakasyon. Kailangan ko nang magbakasyon. Tara.

TARA, Tulog tayo!!! zzzZ (--__--) Zzzz

Kiko, kyutness at kwek-kwek

Gusto kong sumigaw.

OH MY GUS!!!

If you've read my last post, Free Spirit, I'm crushing on Kiko, one of the Castaways of Survivor Philippines and I just found out a few minutes ago that he's Eugene's cousin. Aaaaahh. I got excited. Eugene, mahal na kita. Parang gusto ko na ring magpa-dreadlocks. Pakilala mo ko sa pinsan mo ah.

Kiko

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Opportunities. Yeah. Contest na naman. Sayang hindi ko na masasalihan yung isa, Faber-Castell churva, dahil sobrang hectic pero this time, try kong makapagpasa ng entry sa contest ng ROX. Gambaremasu.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Inaatake na naman ako ng PSS [Pheromone Sniffing Syndrome]. Ugh. There's this guy na dati ko nang crush pero ngayon ko lang naa-absorb ang pheromones. Spent almost all day with him and some other friends and I get to actually sit/stand close to him, close enough to actually dream holding his hand, ang lapit kasi, dream of hugging him kasi as in sobrang lapit nya kanina at dream of.. kissing him? Wah. Epekto ng too much closeness. Oh no. Cute nya kasi. Singkit! Eeeeeh, nakakainis.

Hahahaha. Fotcha. Pang-midnight snack na lang.

Excited na ako mag-trip. Midyear, Anniversary, and other more trips. Gusto ko na magbakasyon. Gusto ko na matapos mag-aral. Gusto ko nang yumaman. Hahahahah. 'Etong matindi: gusto ko nang magmahal. Hahahaha. LOL.

Bigla kong naalala, ahihihi.

Para sa mga crushies ko:

Hindi tayo tao,
Hindi tayo hayop,
Ano ikaw at ako?

Bagay tayo.

Hahahaha. Cute 'noh?
Hula ko, ang mga makakabasa nito,
Mapapa-OH MY GUS!?
Hahahaha

He is a Bob Marley fan and calls himself the "Rasta Man." Kiko is described as a playful character but within him lies the toughness of a warrior.

Stressed is Just Desserts Spelled Backwards

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Magta-tryout talaga ako for Survivor kaya lang di ako magaling lumangoy. Hahahaha.

By the Beak: Pico de Loro, the second time around

2nd Training Climb for DLSU-Dasmariñas Mountaineering Society Batch 12 Applicants / Open Climb 2008
Mt. Palay-palay and Mataas na Gulod Protected Landscape [Pico de Loro]
September 13 - 14, 2008
Ternate, Cavite

~As expected, umulan and medyo may dulas factor but, sorry to disappoint you, kids, hindi ako gumulong. Hahahaha. I'm so proud of myself.

~Pico de Loro was so alive and teeming with life.

~I woke up to a beautiful morning. I've never seen Pico that way before. The other climbers would also agree.

Kung baga, 'this is where you gave me good memories, now, this is where it's being taken away'. Salamat pa rin, sa'yo.

~Freeloader ever, kawawa naman ako. Hahahaha.

~May nakita kaming namumuong rainbow sa langit nung umaga. Maya-maya pagdating namin sa falls, na by the way ay napakasarap paliguan lalo na with friends, nakita namin yung rainbow sa loob ng falls. Astig.

May land formation pa dun na reminiscent of Chateau D'If sa Count of Monte Cristo. Ang kulit ni Ellen, my newest new friend, nakakatuwang nakakatawa.

~Climbers: Joan, Louie, Stanley, Zharnec, Jasper, Royce, Amber, Robinson, PJ, Ellen a.k.a Ate Runner/Racer, Sir Dok, Sir Mervyn, Alvin and his guest "Paul" [his name is not Paul but we call him Paul because we thought we heard Alvin call him Paul. He corrected us but we really can't recall his name. Anyway, hi Kuya guest!!!

Hahahaha. Ayos.

Photos from my phone. Ayos ba?

.v.(--.--).v.

Dear big, bad universe,

Please, please forgive me but Levy-chan won't be home again. This week has been pretty stressful and she gotta have her time away from the harsh world. Other earthlings still don't understand why she does what she do but unless they do it themselves then they might not ever understand. Nyaw. Haven't had any decent sleep yet this week, she's kinda worn out and she's gotta go somewhere to recharge. Not sure if she can say anything more, maybe some other time. For now, gotta finish packing. She's leaving early morning, 4am. Be back on Sunday, see you then.

Whether you like it or not, I'm yours,
Levy-chan

History. First gig ni Moymoy at Roadfill. Live performance with their band. Oh, yeah. All access. Jheerick, Julianne and Ken went there to interview them for HF, but, hey, I got to be there first. Hahahaha. Woooh. Astig. Ito na ata ang pinaka-tinangkilik sa lahat ng KTS na na-attend-an ko. As in, sold out. Nagkaubusan ng ticket. Ang cool, ang kulet at ang cute nilang dalawa. Nakakapagod pero sulit. Next time, magkikita pa tayo in the future. Hahahaha.

Last KTS ko na 'to but I'd definitely be comin' back again next year and the years to come. I love La Salle Dasma FOREVUHRRR!!!

Photos from Issah's phone and Heraldo Filipino's malufet at bonggang-bongang DSLR.

PS: Yes, kids. Nagsasalita sila. Hahahaah. Ayos.

Just met Moymoy

... and Rodfil na cute na cute. Sarap kurutin.

Ang coool-eet! Hahahaha. I'll post the pictures once I get them from the HF camera and Issah. Astig, Issah and I got to be their "assistants" backstage. I'll try stealing from some other people here in Multiply. We worked kasi as Usherettes and DLSU-DMS representatives for CSO. Buti na lang talaga. Kapalaran.

Best KTS ever? Ewan. Basta jam-packed at sold out. Tapos cool-ness talaga ang performance nila. Live hah. Yeeeeeh. Gusto ko talaga silang i-hug pero nakakahiya saka medyo may ka-supladahang taglay 'yung manager nila. Hehehehe. Peace, ate.

Goodluck.

BTW, Nice meeting you both, Moymoy and Rodfil. Add nyo ko sa Multiply ah. Sana mabasa nyo to. Ayos.

Bakawan sa Calatagan [Edited]

One in a series of Mangrove Treeplanting Activities along the shorelines sponsored by La Salle Schools.
September 6, 2008
Calatagan, Batangas

!! Already edited the scenery pictures. !!

~ I was late. Good thing they didn't leave me. Thank you, guys!
~ I haven't had not one wink of sleep. Just imagine how I looked.
~ Loved the smell of the sea, I missed it
~ It's my first time, i think, to see a mangrove and plant them. It's also a first to see plants' roots growing upwards though the species that we planted grows roots down into the ground
~ I learned a new word, propagules, which refers to mangrove seedlings
~ It took us longer to, literally, cross the ocean get to the tree planting site on another island than do the actual planting of the offshoots
~ It's my first time to see and hold a live starfish and hermit crab. They, like, thrive in hundreds or thousands in the area, like a "constellation" of starfishes, and if you're not watching you step, you might step on them. I saw some dead starfishes, probably because they were trampled upon. Poor, Patrick.
~ Watching starfishes "glide" is really fascinating
~ I saw something eel-like thingy while we were looking for some more place to plant the shoots, and it freaked me out a little
~ Someone took home starfishes. Stupid heartless kiddos!
~ Raw pictures, they looked better on the cellphone's LCD screen. I'll edit them when I get the time.
~ Buko-flavored ice candy trips. Ayos.
~ Loved the sceneries, you should've been there. Hahahaha
~ Finally had fast food, which I haven't had for months. Ahw. Happy food.
~ I went to the HF Photoshop Seminar right after.
~ Went to party with friends after the seminar.

Oh, lookey here. I got a video!

Prologue to Chasing A Dream

If you've never been there, you will never know what it's like and you will never be expected to understand; that rush that flow like invigorated blood in the adventurer's veins, that certain high that animates the idle soul doomed to unconscious stagnation.
- LEiGS, 2008
